Ladies and Gentlemen...
Let me introduce you to the..................

                            THE DETOX FOOT SPA

So I was watching this korean show and found out about this Detox Foot Spa machine that detoxicates your body and turns your water clear to brown from all the bad ions in your body. The show continued interviewing some people who tried the product and had positve feedbacks about it (i.e. how it improved their health, sick people were not sick anymore, diseases went away, and yadi yadi yadi yah... ). I guess it was a big thing in Korea and you KNOW how Koreans can be if it has anything to do with good health. I even found few positive reviews online about these products from people who spend like $$$ (from what I hear, around $3,000) on these products. What was weird was that I assumed that googling this product would show a whole bunch of sites about this great product that I never even heard of.  I mean, c'mon, if it was such positive product, wouldn't you think it would be hitting the news everywhere? As I got curious, I kept watching the show and starting looking for more reviews that were not so great.
I must say at first, while I was watching the show, I got so excited that I wanted to try one asap. So, I started browsing online, as I continued to watch the show, for the product. I wanted to call my parents to even tell the good news to them. But as I kept watching the show, the show started to investigate on the product to see if it was REALLY detoxicating your body or not. First, they sampled the product with all different age, sex, and healthy/ non healthy people. Water color was all the same. It was all the same dark brown.  So, then they took a sample of this brown water and went to test it at the toxicology lab.
Well well well.......... here it goes.... They found that the water was rusted water from iron or some type of metal and contained no toxics in the water. Therefore, the product was concluded to be a FRAUD. While this investigation was going on, I found this review from a doctor who did some reasearch and this is what he proclaimed.

"Hello
Dr. Weil asnwers today:
Are Ionic Footbaths Detoxifying?
I just heard about ionic detox footbaths and wondered if you had any comments regarding them.
A
Answer (Published 2/20/2007)
Ionic detoxification footbaths are being widely promoted on the Internet and elsewhere as a means of removing toxins from the body and balancing cellular energy. They make use of an electrically powered device that is said to produce positive and negative ions. Supposedly, the ions stimulate cells in the body. As a result, promoters claim that toxins are excreted from the body via pores in your feet. During the foot bath, the water changes color, going from clear to reddish brown to black - this is billed as "proof" that toxins are being removed.
Promoters claim that ionic detox footbaths can relieve all manner of physical complaints - from arthritis and joint pain to headaches, fatigue, skin problems, poor digestion, and liver and kidney disorders.
This is all complete nonsense. The Guardian Unlimited, an online British newspaper, sent a doctor to have an ionic detox footbath. He took water samples before and after and sent them to a lab for analysis. Neither sample contained any toxins. And when a Guardian Unlimited reporter suspected that the discolored water might be due to rust, he tried an experiment: he rigged up a bowl of salt water with two metal nails attached to a car battery (to simulate the metal electrodes used in the ionic detox footbaths). That water turned brown with some sludge on top = the same type seen on the footbaths. The change in color was due to iron from the nails. Analysis of the "after" sample of water from the detox footbath showed that the change in water color was a result of its iron content.

A footbath, ionic or not, can't detox your body or rebalance cellular energy. If you buy one of the devices (which cost in the neighborhood of $1,200) the only rebalancing you're likely to notice will be in your bank account. "

MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!! ALWAYS DO RESEARCH BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ANYTHING!!!!!!!

*another note.... I boiled milk today for the first time to dip and drink with my hard chocolate chip cookie.  After boiling a cup of milk in a medium size pot, the milk foam started to rise and bubble over my pot. As I rushed over to the kitchen to remove the pot, I held it over my sink.  I was amazed at the continuous foam of milk, that kept bubbling and spilling all over from just a small amount of liquid that had started out in a medium size pot. You would think it wouldn't flow over but boy! was it a celebration for the lactose~ However, what was more shocking was that I poured the hot liquid milk into a cup and found a thin layer of cooked milk at the bottom of my pot. It literally looked like a thin layer of a fried white omelette . Since, I'm taking a lot of science courses as a biology major, I wondered what in the FAT FREE MILK was cooked inside my pot. I understand the chemicals involved of where the foam and all came from but what the hill ( =X ) was in my milk that had cooked underneath the foam and liquid??????????
I tried to google it up but DANG google does not have an answer......
(btw, google sucks lately.... can't find anything!!!)
Where's Alton Brown when I need him?
Does anyone have an answer to what that fried white omelette came from underneath the white liquid and foam?
Please... I'm curious.
